Tianjin People's Art Publishing House
Established in 1950, Tianjin People's Art Publishing House aims at popularizing art to serve the public.

Hebei Province

Hebei Art Publishing House
Formerly called Public Art Agency, Hebei Art Publishing House was established in 1954. In earlier years, it focused on Chinese folk painting, but now it pays concentrates more on publishing contemporary painting, calligraphy and techniques.

Liaoning Province

Liaoning Art Publishing House
Funded in late 1940s, Liaoning Art Publishing House publishes books about art and photography, painting, history review, year book, translated books, painting techniques, folk painting, calendar, calligraphy and art education textbooks.

Jilin Province

Jilin Art Publishing House
Funded in 1984, Jilin Art Publishing House mainly publishes series drawings, folk painting, calendar, art illustration, art history books and textbooks.

Heilongjiang Province

Heilongjiang Art Publishing House
Originally funded in 1950s, this publishing house was attached to Heilongjiang People's Publishing House in the early 1960s. In 1983, it became independent. Heilongjiang Art Publishing House publishes art theory and techniques books, instrumental books, painting, illustrations, Chinese folk painting, calligraphy and photography.

Shanghai

Shanghai People's Art Publishing House
Originally funded in 1952, the Shanghai People's Art Publishing House was called East China People's Art Publishing House in 1952. Since 1956, it combined Shanghai New Art Publishing House, Shanghai Painting Publishing House. It not only focuses on the popularizing art materials, but also on high level paintings. Jiangsu Province

Jiangsu Art Publishing House
Established in 1983, Jiangsu Art Publishing House focuses on primitive art, folk art and contemporary art.

Zhejiang Province

Zhejiang People's Art Publishing House
Established in 1958, it was originally attached to Zhejiang Daily. It was suspended during the Cultural Revolution. The media-sized profession publishing house was restarted in 1980.

National Academy of Art Publishing House
Established in 1985, this publishing house focuses on high level of fine art and art textbook. It published the first comprehensive set of art textbooks. It edits and publishes New Art and Art translations.

Anhui Art Publishing House
Established in 1984, Anhui Art Publishing House was developed by the Art editing section of Anhui People's Publishing House. It aims at publishing books with local characteristics and serving the local readers.

Fujian Province

Fujian Art Publishing House
Fujian Art Publishing House was funded in 1985. It was also the art editing section of Fujian People's Publishing House, which was established in 1952. This art-publishing house focuses on Chinese traditional and modern art.

Jiangxi province

Jiangxi Art Publishing House
Formed in 1989, Jiangxi Art Publishing House previously was the art editing section of Jiangxi People's Publishing House. It publishes art works from the past to nowadays, from the East to the West.

Shandong Province

Shandong Art Publishing House
Funded in 1984, Shandong Art Publishing House previously was the art editing section of Shandong People's Publishing House. It publishes painting books, folk painting, photographs, practical art and foreign art.

Henan Province

Henan Art Publishing House
Funded by the art editing section of Henan People's Publishing House and the art editing division of Zhongzhou calligraphy and painting association in 1984, Henan Art Publishing House specializes in the publishing of art, photograph, calligraphy. Hubei Province

Hubei Art Publishing House
Hubei Art Publishing House was developed from the editing sections of Hubei People's Publishing House and the Yangtze River Art Publishing House. Hunan Province

Hunan Art Publishing House

Guangdong Province

Lingnan Art Publishing House
Lingnan Art Publishing House was established from by the art editing section of Guangdong People's Publishing House in 1981. It publishing strategy is not only focusing on Guangdong province, but also on the national and oversea markets. It publishes all kinds of publications about art. It runs two magazines, including Art Gallery and Weekend series illustration.

Guangxi Province

Guangxi Art Publishing House
Established in 1990, Guangxi Art Publishing House publishes all kinds of materials about art. It was developed from the art editing sections of Guangxi People's Publishing House and Lijiang Publishing House.

Hainan Photograph and Art Publishing House

Sichuan Province

Sichuan Art Publishing House
Established in 1984, Sichuan Art Publishing House was the former art editing section of Sichuan People's Publishing House. Guizhou Province

Guizhou Art Publishing House

Shanxi Province

Shanxi Art Publishing House
Shanxi Art Publishing House was previously called Changan Art Publishing House, which was funded in 1957. It emphasizes both on Chinese traditional and contemporary art and art information from overseas.

JOURNALS

Fine Art
Edited by China Artists Association, ART was established in 1950. It was previously called People's Art and changed to ART in 1954. Bimonthly. Since 1980, it started to discuss issues such as content and form, modernism art, human body art, 1985 art movement, Chinese painting and oil painting and the commercialization of art. It also organizes symposiums and scholar seminars to promote the research about art theory and contemporary art.

Art Research
A distinguished art journal, run by China Central Academy of art, established in 1957. It serves professionals of art history, artists and art-goers. The columns of the journal include art history research, theory research, creation and comments, education research, research exchange, discussion, material and archaeology. It focuses both on Chinese art and the overseas art.

World Art
Academic journal of the China Central Academy of Art is quarterly published. Its readership includes educators and students, artists, art theory professionals and art-goers. Its columns are artists and works, art theories, history and opinion, research and visit, technique and material, museum review. Focusing on the Western art history, this journal has systematically introduced world art development.

China Art
Published by People's Art Publishing House, China Art is mainly issued to the overseas market. Established in 1985, the journal is a valuable collection for art professionals, collectors and relating institutions. Its content is divided into two parts-classic and modern. It has both Chinese and English versions.

Friend of Art
Making comments on all kinds of publications about art, Friend of Art was established in 1982, collaboratively run by the national and provincial art publishing houses. This monthly journal aims at recommending art books, providing art publishing information and art knowledge, linking up readers, authors, editors and publishers.

Chinese Painting
Established in 1958, Chinese Painting focuses on modern Chinese national paintings. Its major columns include special comment, introduction of artists, art analysis, Chinese painting discussion, painting history research, ancient painting appreciation, etc.

Chinese Calligraphy and Painting
Established in 1979, Chinese Calligraphy and Painting was published by the People's Art Publishing House. It mainly introduces the art works of famous Chinese painters, and publishes calligraphy, seal carving, art comments and some ancient works as well. It is issued in Asia, America and Europe. The World of Print-making
This quarterly journal was established in 1983, run by the People' Art Publishing House. It focuses on woodblock printing and lithograph works. Address: No.32 Beizongbu Alley, Beijing, 100735 9.

Chinese Garden
An exchange journal of garden art, run by Chinese Scene and Garden Institution. Funded in 1985, Chinese Garden has columns as city environment plan, garden building, garden project, garden history and art etc. Address: Ministry of Construction, Baiwanzhuang, Beijing, 100835 10.

Environment Art
City environment design art and function research journal. Established in 1988, this journal is run by the Institution of City Construction of the Ministry of Construction. Flowers of Spring-welcoming
This quarterly is published by Tianjin People's Art Publishing House. Established in 1979, the journal focuses on introducing art history, art theory and artists. Chinese Oil Painting
Established in 1980, China Oil Painting was previously called Art Gallery, published by Tianjin People's Art Publishing House. Art Cultivation

Meiyuan
Academic journal of the Lu Xun Academy of Art. Established in 1980, this quarterly journal aims at making progress of art research. Art of Modeling

Art Review
First published in 1952, Art Review was formerly called Northeast Farmers Illustration. Its readership shifted from farmers to the youth and photographers all over China from 1988 on. The publisher is Liaoning Art Publishing House. Art Series

Established by Jiangsu Publishing House in 1974, this monthly journal has been introducing the new artists since 1985. Its columns fall in contemporary Chinese painting, avant-garde art, art theory, critics, contemporary calligraphy, foreign art, and art history etc.

China Art Education
Serving as a public art educational journal, China Art Education was funded in 1980. The bimonthly journal is edited by Nanjing Normal University. New Art
New Art is the academic journal of Zhejiang Academy of Art. World Art News
An exchange journal among the academic communities, World Art News initialed in 1989. Edited by World Art Research Institute and published by Zhejiang Academy of Art Publishing House, this journal introduce the latest art trend, current activities of famous artists, international art exhibitions information, art competition, introduction of art academies, art market information and so on. Art World
Edited by the Association of Literature and Art of Anhui province, Art World was established in 1988. Art Life

Initialed in 1984, Contemporary Artists combines history research with creation. It is the academic journal of Sichuan Academy of Art. Northwest Art
Academic journal of Xi'an Academy of Art, established in 1982, previously named as Xi'an Academy of Art Journal, changed its name to West Art in 1985, and became Northwest Art since 1987. It is a publishing field for the Academy. Its columns fall into teaching research, art exploring, theory research, art creation, art works, introductions of artists, thesis, folk art and foreign art etc. It emphasizes on the art from the northwest of China.
